The effects of cultivation methods of maize growing on weed prevalence were analysed. The highest number of weed plants were noted in monoculture. Conventional tillage significantly decreases the number of weed species. Weed coverage within the reduced and minimum tillage increases to 229 and 340.5, respectively in comparison with the conventional tillage. The number of weed plants per square m in the variant of 300 NPK/ha was 154.9. The increase of plant density to 145,000 plants/ha resulted in weed coverage decrease (22.9). The number of weed plants per square m under irrigation conditions increases to 139.3. According to everything stated the better results of weed control could be expected if the well chosen maize growing system and rationalized herbicide application are optimally adjusted.
