The reproduction and production characteristics of Large White have been studied. In order to investigate the effect of age at first fertilization and on the next farrowings, the gilts were alloted into groups at the age of 195-281 days, with an interval of 30 days between groups. The sows have been alloted into seven groups, also with the aim of studying the effect of number of piglets born in the first litter on the fertility of sows in the further farrowings (10 farrowings). The productive characteristics have been studied in the fattening from 30 to 100 kg on a total of 252 fatteners (two experiments), where the live weight gain, feed conversion and meatiness of sides have been found. On some smaller number of sides (43) the meatiness has been assessed by means of total dissection.
