The present experiment was carried out to study the effect of soil conditioner application on some characters and yield in upland soils under continuous cropping of peanut from 1985 to 1986. Correlation coefficient between Bacteria/Fungi ratio and diseases was negative. B/F and Actinomycetes/Fungi ratios in soils under continuous cropping of peanut were low, but increased with deep tillage and application of compost and magnesium lime. The amount of p-hydroxybenzoic acid in soil was 150ppm before treatment but lowered to 11ppm with application of magnesium lime the occurrence of leaf spot was decreased with deep tillage and application of compost and magnesium lime resulting in about 16% of yield increase due to increase of number of pods per hill.
