The endangered Danube migratory sturgeons are mainly Huso huso and Acipenser guldenstaedti. Effects of nutritients toxic substance runoff and from large catchment basin of NW Black tribularies contributed to NW Sea area impoverishment. Penetration into the Black Sea and outburst of comb jelly Mnemiopsis leidy populations in the 1980s have an impact on the local fauna, including sturgeons. Trawlers fishing near shore are another threaten for sturgeons. The barrages construction cut the access to many spawning grounds. This present legislation imperfection as well as the lack of an efficient struggle against poaching and an exaggerated distructive effort of organized fishery - not only in Romania - are real threats for all sturgeon species survival.
