The effect of several triazoles fungicides on growth of isolates PPM-1 and Bio-4 of Ganoderma boninense, obtained from pure recultures in air temperature, and on isolate PPM-1 colonizing oil palm roots after being inoculated have been studied. Applied concentrations of triadimenol were 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 5.0 and 10 microg/ml. For field trials triadimenol and tridemorph fungicides have been applied by root absorption and soil drenching method, with concentration of 2.5 and 5 g a.i. rotated for every 2 and 4 months respectively. Based on laboratory test results, all fungiciodes were able to inhibit and even kill mycelium of Ganoderma boninense. Triadimenol applied by root absorption method in field experiments have shown promising controlling effect to basal stem rot based on first attack criterion (criterion I), while tridemorph did not show any effective control compared with triadimenol, 15 months after application. Further studies are still needed.
