On the basis of the results obtained by studying normal and chickens with acute erythroleukosis caused by the R-strain of erythroleukose virus as well as by studying the cell culture of bone marrow, suspension type, the following was concluded: the incorporation of H-uridine and H-thymidine into RNA and DNA of malignantly proliferated bone marrow cells of chickens with acute erythroleukosis was 3-6 times higher than in normal chickens; in chickens with acute erythroleukosis, in addition to the malignant proliferation of erythroblast cells, there appeared complex disturbances in the humoral stimulation and inhibition of erythrocytopoiesis.
