Fenologia de Cydia pomonella (L.) en localidades de la decima region, control y efectos colaterales de los plaguicidas empleados en su combate.

A phenological study was carried out, together with an evaluation of the effectivity and side effects of pesticides in the control of C. pomonella. The research was carried out three apple orchards near Valdivia, La Union and Osorno. To determine the seasonal cycle, flying period and number of annual generations, pheromone traps were placed in the localities indicated above. Studies on fruits and leaves infestation and place of overwintering larvae on the trunk were made only at Valdivia site. A random block statistical design was used for the insecticide trial (azimphos methyl and diflubenzuronwhich) 5 replications and three treatments. C. pomonella behaves as a divoltine species in the 3 localities. The flying period lasted 145 to 190 days, from october to april. Differences were observed in these trials in relation to the activity of this species in central Chile, in the number of captures of each generation, absence of clear peaks of capture along all the flying period and starting date of the flight period. The adults emerging in spring and early summer came from two generations (wintering and non wintering), adults flying later in summer came from the non wintering generation. As only part of the non wintering generation reach adult stage, the size of the captures in spring and early summer is higher than in summer and early autumn captures. The percentage of infested fruits was for treatments with azinphos methyl (1,3%); diflubenzuron (12%) and untreated (30%). Azinphos methyl reduced a great deal the population of predatory acari. Diflubenzuron did not show statistically significant differences in relation to untreated trees in the number of predatory acari.
