In a short term field experiment on new reclaimed bog land (pH ca 4.5) the experimental design included increasing rates of lime, in combination with increasing rates of P in superphosphate. In another field experiment the design included addition of 60 cubic metres mineral soil, respectively 3 tons of iron rich slag per hectare. At low liming, oats and timothy showed distinct better growing for mineral soil or slag, than on control plots, where the plants showed distinct symptoms of iron deficiency (interveinal chlorosis). High rate of phosphorus, particularly combined with low liming, led to toxicity in oats. The chemical content of some elements in oats (1978) and timothy (1979 and 1980) was shown for Ca, for P and for Cu. The pH values and the content of inorganic and organic P in soil samples are shown. The content of organic and inorganic P and water soluble P in the top soil after the end of a 13 years long term field experiment on new reclaimed bog land is also presented.
