Leclercq M.
In July I995 studies were made on the cadaver of a young wild boar living in the forest of the national estate of Chambord (Loir-et-Cher), France. About 35 species of insects were observed. The cadaver was skeletomized in ten days. Among the variables affecting decay rate temperature and accessibility by insects, are of the utmost importance. Faunal succession of insects especially sarcosaprophagous species, accelerate the decomposiTion of a cadaver (animal or human) until its mineralization. Results are discussed with comments on species assemblage. (Calliphora sp., Protophormia terraenovae, Chtysomia albiceps, Lucilia caesar, Sarcophaga variegata, Sarcophila latifrons, Ravinia pernix, Graphomya maculata, Hydrotaeasp., Musca sp., Muscina prolapsa, Fannia sp., Stearibia nigriceps, Eristalis pertinax, Myathropa florea, Nemopoda nitidula, Sphaerocera curvipes, Tabanus sp., Necrobia violacea, Geotrupes stercorosus, Vespula pseudogermanica).
