Dried ground or fresh blended sample of each medicinal plant was incorporated at different concentrations into PDA on which growth of test fungi was determined. The results showed that star anise (Illicium verum) at the concentration of 20,000 rpm. completely inhibited growth of all fungi followed by caraway (carum carvi), lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus), Clove tree (Syzygium aromaticum), Stemona (Stemona tuberosa), garlic (Allium sativum), Nux-vomica tree (Strychuas nux-vormica), purging croton (Croton tiglium), Thorn apple (Datura metel), and derr (Derris elliptica) respectively. Crude extract of star anise obtained by boilingin 95 percent alcohol combined with PDA at the concentrations of 3,000 and 6,000ppm. reduced growth of Drechslera maydis by 88.41 percent over the control. Antifungal property of star a leaf disease of corn caused by D. maydis was reduced as time interval of preinoculated spray of the extract was increased.
