The results indicated that siratro and common centro did not make any response to the applied phosphorus in terms of cumulative dry matter yield of tops, roots, nodule number and crop growth rate. However, the optimum rates of applied phosphorus for the growth of siratro and common centro were ranged from 8-20 ppm P. Cumulative yield of tops, roots, nodule number, crop growth rates and cumulative leaf areas of both siratro and common centro were significantly affected by the cutting intervals studied. Siratro cut at 4 week-interval gave highest yield of tops when compared to the other cutting intervals and non defoliated control plants In contrast, common centro cut at 2 week-interval gave highest cumulative dry matter yield of tops. Furthermore, the frequent cutting e.g. 2 week-interval, greatly reduced root growth when compare to the infrequent cuttings and non defoliated control plants.
