An effective agricultural extension system is important to the development of the sector in Antigua and Barbuda. This document analyses the present existing extension services with emphasis on education, the role of the government farms and diffusion of information. Notes that there are no local tertiary institutions which offer agricultural science as a major. Makes a number of recommendations for improving the extension service including increasing the resources invested in the sector, improving weather forecasting and disease surveillance and strengthening of the irrigation systems in the island.
