The bird study at Doi And Khang revealed 71 species of fruit-eating birds. They could be subdivided into 2 categories, frugivorous birds and omnivorous birds. These were 33 species of frugivorous birds, of which the main-fruit-eater were 11 species of bulbul; and 30 species of omnivorous birds causing minor problems to fruits, and fruit forms only a small part of their diet. Among bulbuls, 4 species were considered to be the most destructive birds: Red-whiskered Bulbul, Black-capped Bulbul, Brown-breasted Bulbul and Flavescent Bulbul. They were widely distributed with high reproductive rate and high population number. With the ultimate purpose to minimize the problems of fruit-eating birds around Ang Khang area, seven different methods had been experimented to determine their efficiency against birds. These method were mist netting, blue netting, nests and eggs collection, Sling-shots, guns, gum and Balloons. Mist netting was proved to be the best method, as it was easy in application as well as economically justified to be further recommended to the hill-tribe people.
