Seleccion de lineas y respuesta de variedades de maiz bajo condiciones ambientales diferentes.

The objective of the present paper, was to compare the first selection cycle of S1 progeny (ISCLS1) with the original variety and the drought resistant hybrid H-204 and to identify elite lines among 18 outstanding S1 lines. Three trials were stablished, under irrigation, drought and rainfed conditions at the Experimental Station of INIFAP-CIFAP, Ags., Mex. Six early lines with high yield potential and dry matter production were selected. Their average yield was greater than those of non selected group by 0.4-0.8 ton/ha through environments. The number of days to flowering of the ISCLS1 was reduced by 5 without any change in yield in relation to the original synthetic. The ISCLS1 showed a yield and dry matter production similar to the hybrid H-204 through environments. The number of ears per plant and harvest index were the most correlated characteristics with yield, mainly under drought conditions, with r values of 0.73 and 0.83, respectively.

El objetivo del presente trabajo fue comparar el compuesto del primer ciclo de seleccion de progenies S1(ICSLS1) con la variedad original y con el hibrido resistente a sequia H-204 e identificar lineas elite de maiz (Zea mays L.) de entre 18 sobresalientes. Para tal efecto, se sembraron 3 ensayos bajo riego, sequia y temporal en la Estacion Experimental de Pabellon, Ags. del INIFAP. De las 18 lineas, se seleccionaron 6 por su mayor rendimiento, produccion de materia seca y precocidad. El rendimiento promedio a traves de ambientes de estas lineas supero en 0.4 a 0.8 ton/ha, al grupo no seleccionado. Se logro incrementar la precocidad del ICSLS1 en 5 dias, sin afectar el potencial de rendimiento respecto al compuesto original. El ICSLS1 presento igual precocidad y una respuesta en rendimiento y materia seca a traves de ambientes similar al H-204. El numero de mazorcas por planta y el indice de cosecha fueron las caracteristicas que mas correlacionaron con el rendimiento, principalmente bajo sequia, con valores de r de 0.73 y 0.83, respectivamente.
