1992
Binoya C.S.
There were three groups of respondents: the uninsured (UI); the insured borrower (IB); and the insurance self-financed (ISF). By equal allocation technique, a total of 180 rice farmers, selected through a 2-step simple random sampling process, were interviewed using an interview schedule. The study showed that majority of the farmers are low risk-takers. Insured farmer's degree of satisfaction with their experiences with APT's [Agricultural production technicians] ranged from "not satisfied" for the IB to "moderately satisfied" for the ISF. Both groups were not satisfied with the services of the PCIC adjusters/employees and the lending banks as well with obtained benefits for both seasons. Insured farmers were highly motivated to avail of the support services of the government, be alleviated from their financial burden and improve their farm performance. This variable is significantly related to farm size, tenure status, purpose of growing rice, risk-taking and satisfaction with obtained benefits for the wet and dry seasons. It is highly and significantly related to farmer's status, awareness, attitude, satisfaction with APT's services, adjuster's and employees services and bank's services. Between the independent variables and response, tenure status, attitude, satisfaction with APT'S services, PCIC adjusters and employees services and obtained benefits were significantly related to response. Those found to be highly significantly related to response are farmer's insurance status, awareness and satisfaction with bank's services for both seasons.
