The paper presents the main results obtained in field experiments during 1988-1989 using the antagonistic fungi Coniothyrium minitans and Trichoderma spp. to prevent white rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum) in sunflower and soybean. The efficiency of biological treatment to soil with Coniothyrium minitans is similar to that of seed treatment with dry biomass of Trichoderma viride (isolate Td 50) and the biofungicide Trichodex 25 WP (Trichoderma harzianum T-39) Israel, and comparable with the one used with standard specific chemical fungicides, like Sumilex 50 WP, Metben 70 PP etc. The first one has also the advantage to protect the agroecosystems of the two crops.
