The effect of calcium-magnesium wastes on the soil properties as compared with oxide lime was investigated in the 11-year experiments. In total 6 and 12 t/ha CaO + MgO were applied. The following results have been obtained: the highest increase of pH (by 1.5 units) has been found in the arable layer in the treatments with a double lime rate. The hydraulic acidity appropriately decreased. The sorption capacity in the arable layer as well as the content of soluble phosphorus, potassium and magnesium increased distinctly. The tendency to an increase of organic carbon in the arable layer was observed. The content of mobile aluminium decreased to traces and that of total iron revealed no significant changes (despite its content in the wastes amounting to 13-20 per cent). No significant differences in the content of boron, copper, and molybdenum were observed, whereas a significant increase of soluble zinc and decrease of active manganese took place. The wastes examined, containing 0.02 per cent of Pb, did not lead after 10 years to any greater accumulation of total and soluble lead in soil as compared with the control treatment.
