The book "Digestion and metabolism clinical pathology of domestic animals" (vol. 1/2, "Digestion and reabsorption clinical pathology") is written in 6 chapters. Chapter 1, titled "Stomach and intestines clinical physiology" treats the following themes:digestion in the carnivores', pig's and horse's stomach and intestines (general aspect, in carnivores, pigs and horses) and reabsorption in the intestines. Chapter 2, titled "General etiology and pathogenesis of gastrointestinal diseases" treats the alimentary and microbiological factors, parasites and unfavourable living conditions as suitable factors for disease occurrence. Chapter 3 describes the general symptomatology and diagnostics of gastrointestinal diseases. Chapter 4 describes the principles of therapy and prophylaxis of gastrointestinal diseases (etiological, restitutional and symptomatic therapy and prophylaxis, with special emphasis on its application in intensive animal raising. Chapter 5 describes inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases (gastritis, enteritis, gastroenteritis, intestinal autointoxication structure, proctitis). Chapter 6 describes originally non-inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases (nerve supply and mobility disorders, circulatory and gastrointestinal secretion disorders, the change of position and permeability disorders of intestines, mechanical and dynamic ileus and tumors of stomach and intestines). The book gives a long bibliography list containing 2.923 references, an alphabetical index of terms and a survey of the 96 tables given in the book. The book is illustrated with colour and black and white photographs.
