The effect on quality of 2 types of variety maintenance breeding based on individual selection was studied in 2 winter wheat varieties of different types (GK Sarvari and Yubileinaya 50) at the B, C and D line levels and in a line mixture experiment compiled according to grain yield order. It could be seen from the means and mean squares of the 9 quality traits tested that the 2 types of maintenance procedure had different effects on the 2 varieties. The quality traits of Yubileinaya 50 were independent of the maintenance method, while GK Sagvari gave a more sensitive response to it. A significant difference was observed between the 2 maintenance procedures at 2 or 3 line levels for the wet and dry gluten content, gluten extension, protein content, SDC sediment volume and valorigraph index of GK Sagvari. The gluten extension increased for both varieties, and for GK Sagvari there was also a deterioration in the SDS sediment volume, but for both varieties there was an improvement in the valorigraph index, in fact, for Yubileinaya 50 almost all the quality parameters exhibited a higher value compared to the initial B line level.
