In the investigation, on the basis of interviews with 5215 working people in 97 agricultural enterprises, it appeared that the majority of the people working in agricultural units would like to continue to work there, not only because they are content (or partly content), but because they can see no other labour possibility and/or they have inadequate qualifications for any change. The factors limiting the willingness to start a new job vary according to the activity, hierarchical rank, age, sex, etc. of the respondent. During this examination, only 3.7 o/o of the respondents intended to change their workplace, two-fifths of them to begin private farming, and 3.4 o/o of the respondents wanted to run a farm in one form or another. It seems that the farming as a subsidiary or pensionary occupation will play a great role, also in the future. A significant part of the people wishing to run a farm hope to meet the manpower requirements exclusively using their family members.
