This paper investigates the potential impacts of using sugar and coconut as feedstock for biofuels on industry outputs and selected pollution emissions which affect air and water quality in the Philippines. The analytical tool is a computable general equilibrium model which was augmented with information on pollution emissions. The key results of the study were: i)industries which are used as feedstock are likely to expand; ii)industries which rely heavily on the agricultural commodities used as feedstock are likely to be adversely affected; iii)effects on pollution emissions are ambiguous, reducing emissions which contribute air pollution but raising emissions which cause water pollution; and iv)impacts on pollution emissions depend in part on the initial contribution of the industries to total emission and the magnitudes of the output changes in the industries.
