Occurrence, threats, and the need for active protection of the lake minnow, Eupallasella percnurus (Pall.), in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship in Poland

All available scientific data on the historical and current occurrence of the endangered cyprinid species lake minnow, Eupallasella percnurus (Pall.) in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship in Poland are presented. In the XX century only three or four sites of its fish species were identified in this part of the country. Today there is only one site of lake minnow population situated in the vicinity of Wolsztyn (Poland), on the protected area: The European Ecological Natura 2000 Network. The name of this place, consisted from some small peat pits, is - Barloznia Wolsztynska. It is obvious that Wielkopolskie Voivodeship needs a program of active E. percnurus protection. In the future introduction of wild or cultivated individuals of E. percnurus to increase of the number of existing population is recommendation
