In this paper authors used results from the determination of biochemical indicators of metabolism in blod serum of cows from one dairy farm of Holstein-Friesian cows in the vinicity of Banja Luka, Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Examined cows had an average body weight of 650 kg. and milk yield of 7000 kg for a standard lactation (305 days). Herd is free of brucellosis, leucosis and tuberculosis. Cows were kept in stables free housing system. As the main source of forage crop corn silage was used, and as a concentrated feed used as feed concentrate mixture. Formed three groups according to stages of the production cycle. In fresh blood serum were determined by the following parameters: calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), albumin, urea and cholesterol. In conclusion: By determining the values of biochemical indicators of metabolism (albumin and urea) in blood serum obtained data on the intensity of certain metabolic processes in the body but also the assessment of liver, as well as the balance of important minerals such as calcium and phosphorus concentrations in different physiological states or different product categories. Based on these data it is possible to prevent some metabolic disorders and timely remedy.
