Vascular hydrophytes, i.e. aquatic plants, represent special plant group that inhabit water ecosystems and they comprehend compound group of various adaptive plant types. Aquatic weeds represent one of the main problems in canals' network, for they obstruct water flow in them. Aquatic weeds control measures can be mechanical, chemical and biological. The mostly distributed weed species found on the territory of DTD hydrosistem are: Phragmites communis Trin., Typha angustifolia L., Typha latifolia L., Cerathophyllum demersum L., Myriophyllum spicatum L., Myriophyllum verticillatum L. and Carex hirta L., while the mostly distributed woody weed species are: Prunus sp., Morus sp., Salix sp., Populus nigra L, Populus alba L, Populus tremula L, Crataegus laevigata L. and Amorpha fruticosa L. Since 1973, organized herbicide use on the territory of Vojvodina has begun. During the period 2009-2010, on three locations, Vrbas -Bezdan, Bečej-Bogojevo and Odžaci-Sombor, weed infestation by emergent weed species was established, as well as possibility of their control by herbicide glyphosate at a rate of 2.4 and 2.8 kg a.i./ha. Herbicide efficiency was evaluated 30 and 60 days after its application. The final efficiency evaluation by percentage of weed regeneration from rhizomes was performed 300 days after herbicide application.
