Compost is a product that is made through the process of composting. Compost contains slow release nitrogen, phosphate and sulphur. It contains readily available potassium. Nearly 80% of potassium in compost is water soluble. Organic matter in soil is essential for soil structure, water holding capacity and microbial activity. The organic matter in compost has many benefits: improves soil aggregation and structure, improves water infiltration and water holding capacity, increases soil cation exchange capacity in light soils, reduces leaching of nutrients.
