We investigated the effect of sucrose on morphogenetic potential of nodal segments of two Impatiens species (I. walleriana and I. howkerii). Nodal stem segments are cultivated on culture media supplemented with three different concentrations of sucrose (4, 5 and 6 %). The development of axillary buds regarding to nodus position on donor shoot is observed. After 4 weeks of cultivation, succesfull activation of lateral meristems and fully development of lateral buds of both Impatiens species I. walleriana (77-100%) and I. hawkerii (89-100%) are observed. Position of nodal segment on initial shoot, as well as sucrose concentration in culture media had no significant effect on morphogenetic potential of lateral buds.
