Seven billion people on Earth demand a rapid growth of food and energy supplies, therefore making an irrational usage of soil intolerable, both locally and globally. Along with a turn towards renewable energy sources and cleaner technology of energy production, one must pay attention to the recultivation of grounds such as ash and tailing depostits. However, here we face a risk of leaching and distribution of toxic substances that characterize these soils. Solving the problem of soil degraded through energy production, could also include growing technical usage crops (e. g. rapeseed), as well as recultivation through bioextraction, biovolatilization, biodegradation and bioaccumulation.
