Beef cattle feed costs account for 70-80% of total fattening costs. Therefore particular attention should be given to reducing these costs. Given the fact that high amounts of both forage and concentrate feeds are used in cattle fattening, ways should be devised towards weight gain cost savings primarily through supplementation to improve feed efficiency. Local spotted Simmental cattle were allocated to two groups: control group (C, n=12 animals, without Minazel Plus supplementation) and experimental group (E-I, n=12 animals, 0.2% Minazel Plus supplementation). Length of fattening period was 170 days. The animals were fed rations containing meadow hay and complete feed. At the end of fattening period, the control and experimental cattle (receiving Minazel Plus) reached an average body weight of 355.83 kg and 358.66 kg and an average daily weight gain of 1.231 kg and 1.246 kg, respectively. The fattening data and individual costs were used to calculate the market value of the cattle produced, total cost of fattening, financial performance, production efficiency and the cost of weight gain across groups. Calculations showed the following: production efficiency was 115% in cattle receiving Minazel Plus (E-I, 0.2%) and 114.58% in control cattle (C, without Minazel Plus), the difference being 0.42% to the advantage of E-I group, weight gain costs – 80.23 din/kg in C and 79.78 din/kg in E-I cattle, the 0.45 din/kg difference being to the advantage of E-I group; financial performance (market value of the cattle produced – total costs) was better in E-I cattle by 168.09 din/kg per animal (5251.46 din/kg in E-I cattle as compared to 5083.37 din/kg in C cattle).
