Different classes of pests are present in stored medicinal plants (Class: Insecta, Class: Acarina, microorganisms and rodents). Presence of pest from these classes causes significant economic damages/losses and requires a series of preventive protective measures. Pest contamination is caused by inappropriate plant collecting, cleaning, drying, packing, non hygienic processing of plant raw material, unfavourable conditions during storage and transport. Prorequisites and problems in stored medicinal plants are similar like in other crops/plants storing. Difference in medicinal plant storing (drugs, plant raw material, and tea) reflects in duration of biologically valuable components. Dried medicinal plant material, duration of use of valuable components from tea (active principles) is time limited (up to 18 months) and generally shorter comparing grains, leguminous or its' products. This fact is very important, regarding use of control measures for protection of drugs from different bioagenses, having in mind correlation between time of pesticide application and pesticide residues in drugs.
