The aim of the experiment was the cereal grains energy value by different methods determination. In the experiment we analyzed energy value of maize, wheat, barley and oat grains. The energy value of feeds we detected by calculations and by direct calorimetric method also. For energy value detected by calculation were the contents of crude protein, crude fat, crude fibre and nitrogen free extract analyzed. By this method we found the highest gross energy (18.83 MJ per kg of dry matter) in maize, significantly (P less than 0.05) in comparison with wheat and oat. The lowest gross energy content (18.25 MJ per kg of dry matter) we detected in oat and barley. In calorimetric energy value we found different results. The highest calorimetric gross energy value (18.66 MJ per kg of dry matter), significantly in comparison with barley and wheat, was for oat typical. Calorimetric gross energy value of barley and wheat (18.59 and 18.58 MJ per kg of dry matter) were lower. The lowest calorimetric gross energy value we detected in maize, significantly (P less than 0.05) in comparison with wheat. We found different results of cereal grains energy value detected by different methods. By calculations we found the highest gross energy value in maize, by calorimetric method in oat.
