Geographic information system (GIS) represents a modem tool that analyzes and creates maps to solve wind erosion problems. Using this tool, wind erosion equation (WEQ) acquires a new dimension to evaluate soil loss caused by wind erosion that can be identified exactly for certain field in the selected area. This means big advantage in landscape protection planning. Spatial representation of WEQ input parameters variability allows analysis of the areas threatened by wind erosion. GIS computer models allow comparison of present state to suggested variants and selection of optimal solution before the erosion control realization is made. We calculated wind erosion in 2005 according to wind erosion equation using two types of methodology (Skidmore, 1986; Schwab, 1993). The maps of the factors of the input layers of soil erodibility index I, surface roughness K0,kol, K0,par and Ks, climatic factor C, unsheltered distance and residue and growing crops V created grids in the ArcGIS 9.2 interface as the base for final maps of soil loss for 3 variants of solution: autumn variant, when there is no vegetation present on the soil surface and ridges are (1) parallel or (2) perpendicular to the wind direction and (3) autumn/spring variant with ridges after seeding.
