The type-II diabetes mellitus (DM) has been observed in cats, it causes beta cells malfunction or loss, Islets of Langerhans amyloidosis, or chronic lymphoplasmacytic pancreatitis. It is believed that insulin treatment in cats is complex, and insulin injections are necessary for the treatment of DM for the whole of the rest of animal life. In recent years in the literature are available reports on a significant health improvement or even DM remission in cats by using of Lantus (Glargine) insulin. To share own experiences in treatment of DM using insulin Lantus, I have analyzing data of the treated cats in the Clinic of the Veterinary centre. Using insulin Lantus it is possible to achieve a significant health improvement in the situation or even DM remission. Much better results can be achieved if the insulin Lantus is injected twice a day, feed the cats with canned food or protein-rich meat, while at the same time being treated in the disease. An important fact DM successful treatment is good cooperation between the veterinary and animal owners.
