Reproductive efficiency of cows in early lactation depends on its metabolic load. Increased metabolic burden is reflected in the elevated NEFA values and reduced values of IGF-I in early lactation. It is assumed that the reproductive efficiency of cows depends of these two indicators of metabolic stress. The cows decreased reproductive efficiency there is a higher concentration of NEFA and lower concentration of IGF-I in the first four weeks after calving. Classification based on the value of cows NEFA and IGF-I in the first week after calving showed that cows with high NEFA values and low values of IGF-I significantly more often show reduced reproductive efficiency after calving. The values of NEFA and IGF-I were measured in the first week after calving could have a prognostic values in assessing the reproductive efficiency of cows.
