The goal of this contribution is to analyze the size and types of corporate structures in Slovak agriculture, their development in recent times and the evaluation of their influence on management in times of crisis. Entry to EU raises the interest of agriculture theory and business practice in finding competitive advantages. These will be the basis for developement of restructuring and for finding incentives. One factor that from the beginning seems to present itself as an important competitive advantage of Slovak agriculture is the surface size of the company or farm, as well as its legal structure. In our contribution we investigate the following legal forms of enterprises – agricultural cooperatives and trading companies. The results of the analysis confirme better positions of the trading companies.
