Stability in various forms of control serum preparation for quality control of laboratory animal clinical chemistry analysis

Stability of chemistry was the important consideration for control serum preparation to evaluate quality of clinical chemistry analysis. Normally, control serum was prepared in various forms by the human or economic animals that had different matrix from small laboratory animals. In this investigate, the control serums based on rat serum were prepared in the three forms as frozen serum at-20 and-80 deg C and lyophilized form for determination of the thirteen clinical chemistry values concentration. We found that aspartate amino transferase (AST), alanine amino transferase (ALT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in all forms of control serum were stable for 3 months. Otherwise, glucose, creatinine, cholesterol, triglyceride, uric acid, total protein and albumin were slightly difference in the 3 months period but not over the control range (mean+-3SD) of the starting serum. These results showed that quality of control serum in frozen or lyophilized form were not difference
