Development of determinants influencing sugar supply and demand on world market on individual periods

The paper analyzes the long term trends and tendencies of global sugar market development. The paper's main objective is to analyze the influence of selected variables on global sugar supply and demand and on global sugar price. The analysis covers the time period from 1961 to 2010. The volume of global sugar demand and supply is analyzed in equivalent of raw sugar. Individual factors, whose influence on global sugar market is analyzed, are the following: sugar reserves, world population, global GDP growth per capita, sugar consumption per capita, global trade, actual sugar price, and sugar price in previous period. The results coming from the analysis are the following: global sugar supply is most frequently influenced by the volume of sugar production, price in previous period and sugar reserves. Global demand is influenced especially by the growth of global population. Global price is influenced especially by the level of sugar production, the influence of price in previous period is only limited.
