Application of E85 fuel in 1.2 HTP engine

The article presents information from research carried out at the Department of Vehicle and Ground Transport of Engineering Faculty at the Czech Agricultural University in Prague where research into application of biofuels in internal combustion engines is conducted. The article in particular focuses on the change of the basic parameters of petrol engine when operating on E85 biofuel. Operation of petrol engine on E85 is made possible by using an additional control unit by the Europecon Company. Measurements were carried out on the Skoda Fabia 1.2 HTP engine, powered 40 kW, placed on a test bed. Production of harmful emissions and specific fuel consumption were chosen as the parameters for comparison.
