Economic valuation of wildlife: implication for sustainable utilization in the sudan

The paper reflected the degree of environmental variation in the Sudan and animal species biodiversity, as well as the crucial importance of wildlife and its utilization. Also stressed the ecological role of wildlife and its contribution in maintaining natural balance and enrichment of biodiversity. This is in addition to mentioning the direct and indirect economic benefits of wildlife utilization. This sector contributed in the gross domestic product by about 0.2% annually. The national strategic plan for the quarter century indicates the objective and policies of the sustainable utilization of the wildlife resources The paper also dealt with the laws and international conventions that relate to wildlife conservation. It was mentioned that the Sudan was one of the first countries that adopted the laws and regulations concerned with wildlife conservation and establishment of protected areas. As far as the international agreements are concerned, the wildlife conventions mentioned included CMS, CITES, RAMSAR, Water fowl convention and CBD (Convention of Biodiversity).
