Proceedings of a LEF seminar Forest-wood sector modelling: Application for France

Английский. Wood trade is becoming truly international. Should France start modeling its forest sector in that global context? A panel of forest sector modelers and practitioners were invited to share their experience and suggest ways to model the french forest sector. An international forest sector model, the Global Forest Products Model, is presented by J. Buongiorno in its newest version in which the supply side has been further developed. This model in its simplest version has been used for a long time by FAO (A. Whittman). A. Baudin has been modeling the forest sector of the main wood products exporting countries in Europe. For France B. Cinotti provides the context to consider modelling the forestry sector and A. Barkaoui specified and estimates a simple supply/dmand model proving the possibiliy to developp such modelling with existing statistics.

Le commerce international des produits du bois est mondialisé. « La France doit–elle commencer à développer la modélisation du secteur forêt bois ? » était la question posée aux participants invités à ce séminaire où des travaux de modélisation ont été discutés. Une nouvelle version du modèle mondial du secteur forestier GFPM (Global Forest Products Model) a été présentée par J. Buongiorno dans laquelle la projection de l’offre de bois a été améliorée. Une version simplifiée de ce modèle a été utilisée par la FAO (A. Whiteman). A. Baudin a développé un modèle de projection à long terme de l’offre, de la demande et du commerce pour les principaux pays producteurs et/ou consommateurs en Europe. B. Cinotti donne lecontexte d’une telle étude en France et A. Barkaoui montre qu’un modèle simple d’offre et de demande peut déjà être élaboré à partir des données statistiques existantes.
