Soaking iris bulbs (cv. « Ideal and « Prof. Blaauw ») for 1 h in a solution of ethephon (4 ml per litre of a commercial product containing 120 g of 2-chloroethylphosphonic acid per litre), before a cold treatment, led to an increase in flowering percentage due to a decrease in the number of vegetative plants and to a decrease in the number of plants with blasted flower buds.
