In order to determine the durability of inside and foreign commercial varieties to leaf spot disease, 23 varieties were compared in two regions Dezful and Ghaemshahr in 2004. Qualitative and quantitative characters of sugar beet were also evaluated in Dezful trial test in Ghaemshahr only resistance to disease has been checked. The trials were carried out complete randomized block design with four and six replications in Dezful and Ghaemshahr respectively. Varieties were scored based on KWS (1-9) scale in Ghaemshahr and Agronomica (1-5) scaled in Dezful. The number 1 was for resistant varieties and 5 or 9 for varieties, which had lost their leaves completely. Results of trial in Dezful indicated that there were differences among varieties due to root yield, sugar content, white sugar yield which were statically significant (P0.05). White sugar yield of the variety HM1836 (resistant to disease) with 14.15-ton sugar per hectare was the highest and the susceptible check (191) had the lowest sugar yield per hectare (8.45 t/ha). Varieties showed significant different for resistance to disease. The score of the most resistant variety (canaria) was 1.21 and the most susceptible variety (191) got 3.72 .In Ghaemshahr, the variety canaria again got the lowest score (3.4) and the variety shirin got the highest score (6.4) and laid with the susceptible check in the same result.
