The research was conducted in two regions (Freidan and Mobarakeh) during 1996-97. In order to asses accurately density and damage of the pest, other sucking pest (e.g. sunn pest and aphids) were removed by hand and another plot was sprayed four times by Fenitrothion. Crop, yield, wheight of thousand seeds and number of grain per head were assessed to find out ,an accurate amount of thrips damage. The results were compared using t-test. Average number of thrips was 30.5 nymph per head. There was a significant difference (PO.05) for wight of thousand seeds between treated and control plots. But the differences between them for yield and number of seed per head were not significant (PO.05) . In the bases of laboratory experiments there was' no qulitative changes in damaged seeds. In order to the effect of conventional sprayings against t sunn pest on thrips population , its population were sampled a week before spraying and after that. Results showed that sprayings were conducted correctly. However, to obtain the best control is notice to temporal and spacial conditions in an IPM program. In this study four thrips species were collected, which three out of them are phytophagous and the rest is predceous.
