The investigations were conducted with 30 male castrated pigs of the bilinear hybrid (a cross-breed between English Big White x English Landras), bred in individual boxes and fattened up to 100 kg live weight. The control group was fed with corn-soya and the trial – with barley-soya mix, according to the requirements of the BSS. The effect the taken rations on the qualitative and quantitative changes in the adipose tissue total lipids, triacylglycerols (TG), free fatty acids (FFA), cholesterol as well as on the activity of the NADP-dependent malate dehydrogenase (“Malic enzyme”) for 20, 50 and 100 kg animals, trial and control groups, was studied. An intensification of the lipogenetic processes with the age growth of the pigs from both groups, related mainly to the increasing of the activity of the NADP-dependent malate dehydrogenase, has been established. The activity of the studied lipogenetic enzymes was reliably higher for the animals fed with corn-soya mix compared to those with barley-soya mix. The total lipids and TG content increased with the age and live weight of the pigs from the control and trial groups, accompanied by an increase of the saturation of the fatty acid composition (FAC) of the adipose tissue TG. The total cholesterol level was relatively low for both animal groups during the whole trial period - under 100mg/100g tissue. The FFA concentration for 50 and 100 kg pigs, control and trial groups, showed a moderate lipolytic activity, as for the 100kg animals their fatty acid composition gives a picture of a certain balance between the lipolytic processes and an intensified triacylglycerol synthesis.
