Evaluation of biological control agents to control of leafminers in greenhouse tomato.

Two species of leaf miner Liriomyza sativae and L. trifolii damage to tomato greenhouses. Chemical control of vegetable leafminers due to ineffective use of pesticides against this pest has not been very successful because it seems to be great potential in the development of insect resistance to pesticides. The use of biological agents is the best way to control leafminers. Diglyphus isaea is one the most important parasitoids of the leafminers. This research carried out in both Tehran and Isfahan tomato greenhouses. Monitoring program has done using two methods with yellow cards and leaf sampling with counting mines on leaves. The number of 10 yellow cards mounted vertically on top of the 10 plants, and the number of flies trapped were recorded weekly. With the growth of the plants sticky cards were installed 30 cm above the plants. Releasing of biological agents according to the manufacturer recommends was 0.1 - 0.25 / m2. Diglyphus isaea as the only agent controlling the leafminer parasitoid was used. In the 26 till 30 weeks of the growing season parasitism percent were higher than 65%, whereas this value was lower than expected in the protocol should reach 85%. In the final weeks, hunting and feeding on adults and larvae of leafminers by predatory fly Coenosia has also affected the percentage of parasitism has been so reduced.
