Effect of soil solarization on control of citrus nematode (Tylenchulus semipenetrans) in Fars province

Control of citrus nematode ( Tylenchlus semipenetrans, cob, 1913)using canopy soil solarization on natural infested citrus trees , were evaluated during 2010- 2012. The periods of soil solarization were based on the beginning of the nematode activity in early growth season and high environmental temperature. Result showed that population density of the nematode was dramatically decreased immediately, three month and one year after soil solarization . Reproduction factor of all treatments were reduced to zero or near zero ( p΅ά0.05). Neverthless, some plant ectoparasitic nematodes belongs to different families and also Rhabditida were less sensivity to new conditions. Sudden decrease of the citrus nematode population caused increased yield and vigour condition in the next year ( P΅ά0.05). Compared before soil solarization, yields significantly was increased between 27.5-35.44 kg (71.59-77.91% against control) .
