This experiment was conducted to compare of 20 promising common millet(Panicum miliaceum) varieties by using RCB design with three replications in Karaj ,Birjand and Gonbad during two years( 2012-2013). The grain, fresh and dry forage yield of each variety was also determined by harvesting 6 m2 area of a center rows in each plot .Data were recorded on traits such as tiller no. plant-1, days to flowering, panicle length, 1000 seed weight, leaf no. plant-1,leaf area at 5 plants, seed per panicul and plant hight. Result indicated that there were significant difference for all quality and quantitive traits among varieties at 0.05 probability level. Mean comparisons showed that var. 20 with the fresh forage yield of 21.5 t/h and vars. 6, 7,12with the dry forage yield of 5.4 and5.6 t/h and var. 8 with the grain yield of 3 t/h had the highest values among the other varieties.
