Effect of Differet Dietary Levels of Guar Meal on Laying Performance, Fertility and Hatchabilily of Native Breeder Hens.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of feeding diets containing 0, 3, 6, 9 and 12% guar meal with enzyme(+EN) and 6 and 12% guar meal without enzyme (-En) on the reproductive performance of native breeder hens in intensive condition. Two hunderds and ten indigenous hen were randomly divided to 42 groups of 5 femals and 1 male each. Isocaloric and isonitrogenus diets were fed from 25 to 41 weeks of age. Feed allocation to all experimental groups was 90/day/bird at 25 weeks of age and increased gradually during the laying period, so that during peak egg production period (weeks 29-34) maximum feed allocation was 125g/hen/day. The results showed that dietary levels of guar meal significantly (P0.05) influenced on average egg production (EP), egg weight (EW), egg mass production (EMP) and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The highest average of EP (62.2%), EMP (32.51 g/hen/day) and the lowest FCR (3.8) belonged to birds fed diet containing 6% guar meal supplemented with enzyme. On the other hand, the highest average of eggshell streanght, shell thickness, shell weight and yolk weight to egg weight ratio belonged to control group. However there were no significant differences between treatments for the mentioned traits. No specific trend was obseved on the effects of guar meal on fertility, hatchability, day-old chick weights and embryonic mortality, but numerically the diets containing 0 and 6% guar meal improved the mentioned traits. Totally, the results showed that use of guar meal in diet of indigenous breeder hens up to 6% have no any advers effects on their reproductive performance.
