Status of Cassava Production and Prospect in Cambodia

In Cambodia, cassava is currently th second most important crop after rice. Production of the crop has greatly increased during the past 10 years due to a combination of increased demand for both domestic consumption and for export and associated high prices. The objectives of this study were to obtain the basic information about the status of cassava production and prospect in Cambodia. The area planted to cassava has expanded dramaticallly from 16,279ha in 2000 to 361,854ha 2012,while annual production has increased from 147,763 ton in 2000 ti 7.6 million ton in 2012. Average cassava crop yield has also increased significantly from about 10t/ha in 2000 to 21-29t/ha in 2012.
