Milk and milk products are an integral part of Latvian cuisine. Milk is reflected in Latvian folklore as a symbol of prosperity. The Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum has a sizeable collection of milk storage and processing vessels and implements - some 217 items. This catalogue has been produced in order to give a full description of the collection of milk storage and processing and to mark its place in the overall picture of traditional culture.
