In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were presented data of long-term researches (2004-2011) on varietal specificity of potato (Solanum tuberosum) of susceptibility of tubers to phytophthora (Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary). It is shown, that early varieties have a higher susceptibility to the tubers damage by phytophthora rot, the least yield losses are among the varieties of late ripeness terms. The losses decrease from phytophthora rot is possible while cultivating the varieties with a rather high level of the tubers resistance to phytophthora. Identifying of arietal specificity susceptibility to late blight of potato tubers revealed that in the period of harvesting of potato varieties the incidence of phytophthora rot ranged from 80.5% (early maturity group) to 60.9% (late). The most common among all varieties in all maturity groups was infestation with phytophthora rot of the mixed type - phytophthoral-bacterial. However, in the accumulated by the early maturing varieties occurrence of absolute loss of tubers due to phytophthora rot by weight was in 1.3 times higher than in late type varieties.
